RHS medal-winning garden design

Our St Godwald’s Retreat show garden, designed by Marc Harbourne-Bessant and built by F.B & Sons, created an RHS medal-winning garden for the Malvern Spring Festival in 2025. It reflects our belief that thoughtful planting, skilled construction and a clear sense of place belong together.

For your own garden, we bring your ideas, site and budget into one considered design. We take on design and landscaping projects across the UK, with ongoing maintenance currently offered in the West Midlands.

Why Design?

Design gives your garden a clear purpose. It brings movement, seating, privacy and planting together, so the space works for the people who use it. We consider the site, the care the garden will need, and the materials and plants that suit it. Where appropriate, existing plants, reclaimed materials and native planting can become part of a garden with its own character.

Dip. Pro Garden Design

Marc’s interest in gardens began with his father’s hanging baskets and resourceful use of reclaimed materials. That early connection with plants and making things continues to shape his approach to garden design.

He favours naturalistic and cottage-style planting, reused materials and individual details. Inspiration from gardens and different design traditions informs spaces that can grow, change and reveal their character over time.

Marc designed St Godwald’s Retreat, built by F.B & Sons and recognised as an RHS medal-winning garden at Malvern in 2025.

How it Works

At a one-hour design visit, we assess your ideas, measurements, soil and light. We confirm the visit fee first, then send your detailed brief and design-fee proposal.
Concept design is paid for before work starts. An optional, separately priced technical stage can cover drawings and planting. You can build with us or use the plans with another contractor.
