Our Story
F.B & Sons began with family. In 2020, we lost Frank Bessant — Darryl’s father and Marc’s father-in-law — whose resilience and devotion to the people around him shaped the way we work. Darryl and Marc founded the business in his memory, and his initials became our name. Lee was involved from the start, bringing years of practical gardening and landscaping experience to the first jobs.
We started by listening carefully, turning up when we said we would and taking pride in every finished detail. Those habits still matter as much as the gardens themselves. We want customers to know who is looking after their project, what has been agreed and who to call when a question comes up. The trust built in those early days remains the foundation of our family business.
From those first local jobs, F.B & Sons has grown into a team that can take a garden from the first idea to long-term care. Darryl leads the company, Marc leads creative design and client conversations, and Lee oversees operations.
Our employed landscapers, team leaders and office team make that joined-up approach possible. We design and build gardens across the UK; garden maintenance is currently focused on the West Midlands.
Our projects now include St Godwald’s Retreat, designed by Marc and built by our team for Primrose Hospice. The garden won an RHS medal at the 2025 Malvern Spring Festival, then was moved and rebuilt at the hospice as a permanent place for reflection. We have also brought demanding private gardens to life, including the Harborne Cobalt Garden.
Our ambition is rooted in where we began: to create beautiful outdoor spaces that enrich people’s lives and last for generations. We combine skilled craftsmanship with thoughtful design, honest communication and genuine care for every customer. Frank’s legacy remains in the name on every project.
